Instructional Practices in Secondary Mathematics Education in Kenya: A Review of Strategies and Impact on Student Achievement

Abstract

Teaching mathematics is essential for influencing students' academic and professional paths and forming their futures. In Kenya, all secondary school pupils are required to take mathematics. The ongoing drop in math proficiency among students has raised serious concerns, leading educators and legislators to look for efficient solutions and a thorough examination of teaching methods in order to raise student achievement. A major barrier to engagement and success is the negative perception that many students have of mathematics, considering it to be a challenging and uninteresting subject. Effective teaching methods for mathematics are examined in this review, which also examines earlier studies, contrasts the findings of various researchers, and makes suggestions for enhancing math education.
