Effect of Food Sector Workers’ on Food Hygiene Practices

Abstract


This study was motivated by the aim of determining the hygiene attitude and also effect of organizational commitment on the hygiene attitude of the employees of the food industry. In this study total of 30 employees of 3 different catering and serving company which are distributing food to main governmental spots that was selected from the town of Alanya with the food safety concern which is one of the main concerns of all the food processing activities and the employees are the main cause of the cross contamination. In this study food safety and hygiene perception was measured as well as organizational commitment to obtain information about the connection of the employee with the sector. Results were used to highlight the effect of hygiene attitude with the organizational commitment with the data obtained from the questionnaire. According to the results; organizational commitment were found to be effective on the hygiene behavior and also normative commitment were found to have positive relationship with the level of hygiene behavior where unlike our expectations affective and continuance commitment types were found to be unrelated with the hygiene behavior of the employees.
