Abstract

Nowadays a lot of enviromental problems are created by shanty settlements. Structures, raw materials of the structures are the main reasons of these enviromental problems. The reasons for these problems are using natural resources and energy, also creating and throwing waste materials away. Structure’s effect on the enviroment depends on their positive and negative features. Studies about sustainability tell us that an ideal structure's features are being built by natural resources, consuming small energy and receiving that energy from the sun and being easy and economic to care. A construction and the materials that are used in it should contain materials that is suitable and healthy for human life more than toxic and industrial materials. Sustainable materials are: adobe, wood, straw bale, steel, sandstone, plaster, ytong and natural rocks. As a construction material soil started to dissappear when concrete entered the construction market. That’s why we should reconsider soil and combine old methods with the needs of our current life's requirements to rehabilitate and raise consciousness about soil. Soil’s natural structure and the comfort it provides to the construction process and also soils's being recycleable and contribution of sustainability to the environment creates new goals for new researches about modern construction culture.
