Filling Materials and Properties of Rubber Type Elastomers

Abstract

Cross-linked rubbery polymers or, in other words, rubbery webs, which exhibit a very high elongation under tensile force and which immediately return to their initial length when the force is removed, are called elastomers. In addition to elastomeric materials, different fillers and additives are used to improve the properties of the material in elastomeric materials. Very small granular materials, which are added to the elastomers as dry powder, are called fillers. These substances; In addition to the effect of reinforcing the elastomer, it is added to improve the processability, to produce cheaper mixtures and for coloring purposes. It is possible to separate the fillers into three, which are strengthening effect, semi-reinforcing, and pure fillers. Additives; substances which are added in small amounts to provide certain properties in elastomers. These additives; vulcanizing substance (accelerators, activators, retarders), softeners (oils), process excipients (hydrocarbons, fatty acids, synthetic resins, organic thio mixtures), anti-aging substance, preservatives (antiozanates, antioxidants), blowing substance, dyes (pigments), odor transmitters and special purpose substances can be categorized. In this study, the properties of fillers used in rubber based materials were investigated.
