The Effect of Transplantation and Donation of Organs and Giving Education on Knowledge Level in Midwifery Department Students

Abstract


This study aims to increase the awareness about the importance of transplantation of the future midwives who will be one of the health professionals that will set the community a good example, and also, aims to evaluate the effect of education they receive on their knowledge levels about this topic. 78 student participated in the study. The students were divided into three groups. The first group was not given any training but the brochures were distributed for reading the second group and the third group received education about organ transplants and donations with the power point presentation was given. One month later, questionnaires were distributed again of the second and third group and conditions are evaluated after training. According to the results of the study, the average knowledge points of students are low. The reason for this can be stated as the students’ not knowing the importance of transplantation and organ donation. Therefore the awareness of the students about transplantation and organ donation was increased and training organized and they were encouraged to donate organs.
