Ethical and Legal Issues Driven by Genetic Intervention in the Embryo

Sule Celikkan, Ufuk Bircan, Aynur Demir Niman

Abstract

In this study, the problems caused by embryonic interventions using assisted reproductive techniques were evaluated in terms of human rights and honor. The ethical and legal problems and disagreements in consequence of embryonic interventions were introduced. These disagreements necessitate ethical and legal limitations on where and how people's rights and freedoms begin and end. But it is necessary to make the regulations which prevent the misuse of these studies for the benefit of humanity instead of preventing the scientific developments that can be used for the benefit of humanity. Such regulations should be made on the basis of "human rights and dignity".
