Arif Parmaksiz, Ozlem Seker

Abstract

In this study, muscle tissue from 11 specimens of five fish species living in the Tigris River were taken and total DNA was isolated using the commercial kit. The mtDNA COI gene region was subjected to PCR followed by sequence analysis. A total of 198 variable regions were detected in this gene sequence. The average nucleotide variation was calculated to be 0,16494. The genetic distance values of the species range from 0,1157349 to 0,2836891. According to this, A. mossulensis and C. regium were the lowest values and the closest species, the highest value area and the most distant species were L. abu and G. rufa have been detected. The sequences of the five species identified in this study were compared using the BLAST method to the GenBank database.
