Determining the Static Pressure Distribution over the Circular Finite Cylinder in Low Speed Wind Tunnel

Muhammed Enes Kuyumcu, Hakan Oral, Muharrem Imal, Ahmet Kaya

In this study, the static pressure distribution over the cylinder model having a circular finite geometry have been determined experimentally. In the experiments open circuit and suction type wind tunnel has been used. The wind tunnel test section has 20 cm x 21 cm cross section and 48 cm length, and maximum air flow velocity is 15 m/s. The experiments have been carried out at the air flow rates changing an increase of 5%. The variation of the static pressure over the circular finite cylinder model with air velocity, and the variation of the static pressure coefficient with Reynolds number have been investigated. In the experiments, occurrence of D'Alembert's paradox over the circular finite cylinder model has been determined. Because of the lower air flow velocity of the studied wind tunnel, low Reynolds values has been achieved. For this reason, the higher capacity wind tunnel has been needed for obtaining stable static pressure coefficient (Cp) values.

Key words: Circular finite cylinder, Static pressure, Static pressure coefficient, Reynolds number.
