A Comparative Study of Modernization and Academic Achievement of Male and Female College Students

Abstract


The study was undertaken to study the level modernization and academic achievement of male and female college students of district Srinagar (j &k). The sample of the study consisted of 60 college students (30 male students and 30 female students) randomly selected from different colleges of district Srinagar. R. S. Singh’s modernization scale was used for measuring the level of modernization of college students. The scale is based on four components viz socio- religious, marriage, position of woman and education. Academic achievement of college students were taken as the aggregate marks of previous two classes. The data collected was statistically treated by using mean, S.D. and t. test. The findings of the study revealed that there is no significant difference between male and female college students on modernization. Furthermore the results highlight that female students have better academic achievement as compared to male students.
