For this study 6 Peasant Associations (PAs) were selected on the bases of beekeeping potential. 90 beekeepers were interviewed using pre tested semi-structured questionnaires and PRA were also used for 55 non-beekeepers. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 13. In the survey area among the beekeepers interviewed almost all farmer posses different types of traditional hive where only 26.7% and 2.22% owned modern box hive and transitional hive respectively. About 96.67% of the respondents categorize their colonies based on body size, color, swarming rate, honey production and ability to enemy protection. 80% of the interviewed farmers prefer “Red” and “Shumbure” colored bees. The beekeepers have good knowledge in colony management – feeding, watering and pest and predator caring. In all surveyed areas, honey harvested once a year from end of September to November (main honey flow) and some times April to May (minor honey flow). The average honey yield from traditional, transitional & box hive per harvest were 6.4 ± 2.63, 8 ± 2.83 and 13.9 ± 4.04 kg respectively. There are different kinds of bee pests and predators in the area as small ant, birds, wax moth and others. 92.23% of respondent stated that as the trend of beekeeping is decreasing due to a number of factors. In our survey major beekeeping constraints in the area were also identified as lack of extension services, lack of improved beekeeping technologies, lack of man power, Lack better performer line, lack of bee forage. From this study it was realized that, there is potential of beekeeping in the zone but the production system still under traditional way where it needs further intervention of NGOs, Conservers, Researchers and private organizations to improve production system and exploit resource from this sub sector.

Keywords: honeybees, beekeepers, production system, constraints, west Hararghe

DOI: 10.7176/ISDE/14-1-01

Publication date: January 31st 2024

https://www.iiste.org/Journals/index.php/ISDE/article/view/61981E-Learning Model to Improve Students' Performance2024-02-16T03:12:17+00:00Richard Frimpongd@d.comVincentia Serwah Appiahd@d.comBenjamin Odoi-Larteyd@d.comKoukoyi Ebenezerd@d.comEtse Dablu Bobobeed@d.comKenneth Kofikuma Puemd@d.comBadu Yeboah Emmanueld@d.com
The objective of this research is to determine the extent to which students' academic performance is affected by online learning and to develop a model that can be utilized by both students and those who educate them. The theory of e-learning, which is based on the principles of cognitive science, demonstrates how the implementation and development of educational technology can improve the effectiveness of learning. Adjustments need to be made to these three different types of load to get the most out of learning. Because the quantity of space available in working memory is limited, the brains of students will get overwhelmed if they are presented with an excessive amount of knowledge. To ensure that students who make appropriate use of technology do not have to waste their time thinking about things that are not essential, the rules were developed. In addition to this, they make certain that students are not required to contemplate matters that are very vital to them. These concepts, design techniques, and technology improvements are all things that are included in e-learning theory. The theory of e-learning is a subset of the connective grand theory because it focuses on how technology may be utilized and adapted to generate new forms of learning and to assist in the process of learning effectively. Investigate how students' learning is impacted by online education, as well as the factors that led to its implementation on students' learning platforms both during and after the pandemic. In addition, the research will investigate the connection between traditional classroom instruction and online learning, as well as the impact that online education, commonly referred to as e-learning, has on the learning outcomes of students. The courses can be completed either online or in a hybrid format, which mixes online learning with learning that takes place in person. A significant number of university courses include an online component that makes use of web-based technologies. This is done to either simplify the dissemination of course information or provide assistance with assignments and examinations.

Keywords: E-Learning Model, Students, Learning, Performance, Education.

DOI: 10.7176/ISDE/14-1-02

Publication date: January 31st 2024
https://www.iiste.org/Journals/index.php/ISDE/article/view/61982The Slow but Steady Expedition of Central Bank Digital Currency in India- A Study with Special Reference to the People’s Expectations on Central Bank Digital Currency2024-02-16T03:12:17+00:00Abhijeet Bagd@d.com
In the present context when the digital payment ecosystem is dominated by the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) system, RBI sets to introduce Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) or e-rupee. CBDC is the digital version of the rupee and is the liability of the Central Bank. CBDC is accepted as the legal tender, medium of payment and a safe store of value universally. The research article explores the key policy motivations for introduction of CBDC in the international scenario and in Indian context. The study identifies some key pertinent issues of CBDC like its probable conflict with the bank deposits, its ability to promote financial inclusion and prevent the illicit use of money, its presence as an acceptable alternative to the existing payment modes, its role to improve retail and cross-border transactions, to name a few. The article tries to showcase the people’s expectations specifically regarding these issues and analyses them across demographical variables. The research article tries to identify some significant issues in the design features of the CBDC that needs the attention of the policymakers. The design features in the e-rupee should aim to maintain a proper balance between its attractiveness and also to fulfil its key objectives of existence.

Keywords: CBDC, e-rupee, Retail Digital Payment System, Cross-border Payment System, Financial Inclusion, Illicit use of money, Bank Deposits, Cryptocurrency

DOI: 10.7176/ISDE/14-1-03

Publication date: January 31st 2024

JEL Classification: G28, C81, E44, O16
https://www.iiste.org/Journals/index.php/ISDE/article/view/61983The Effect of Performance Management System on Employees Performance: The Case of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Adama District2024-02-16T03:12:17+00:00Belay Robad@d.com
The purpose of the study was to determine the influence of performance management system (PM) on employee job performance in the commercial bank of Ethiopia selected adama districts. In order to test five (05) hypotheses and achieve the objectives of this research structured questionnaire had been applied to gather primary data for analysis and interpretation. However, this questionnaire is composed of 31 questions (Likert Scale question) that personate all the variables of this paper. However, a simple random sample (n=159) was selected with 178 questionnaires that were distributed and back to ensure high response from bank staffs. Descriptive Statistics and Multiple regression model were used for data analysis. Accordingly the result of the data analysis reveal that performance management system i.e. Employee readiness, performance planning period, performance feedback, performance appraisal and, rewarding system have a significant influence on its selected outcomes. As a result, it is recommended by the researcher that study also bring about the emphasis on the presence and appearance of PMS internal experts within the banks which helps to improve the implementation of effective PMS practices. The study concluded that there are strong links with all independent outcomes but there is strong ling is there with performance appraisals as indicated. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that the management of commercial bank of Ethiopia adama district if they sit and reconcile their PMS practices to make them more sustainable.

Keywords: Employee performance management system, Performance feedback, Performance planning period, employee readiness to training, performance rewarding, employee performance and adama

DOI: 10.7176/ISDE/14-1-04

Publication date: January 31st 2024
